“Every child can learn.” – Arne Duncan
When Arne Duncan gave his speech in that room, it not only gave me goose bumps and opened my eyes to new ideas, but also gave me an epiphany regarding certain issues back in my hometown about educational reform. His talk about how the school belongs to the community;therefore, community involvement is a responsibility in nature, about how we must strive for a transformational change, and how we need to start being more open and truthful, just grabbed me by my collar and dragged me into this deep melting pot of civilians who are trying to change our realm of education as best as possible. And what was even more inspiring and motivating was the fact that Mr. Duncan and I have a couple of things in common, so if he can accomplish astounding things, then imagine what i can accomplish too. Education is the most important factor in our society, and we have to continue expanding this message and striving for improvement. If we don’t do anything about it, then it won’t go as far as it can because change has to start with us… We are the head of the pride. He has inspired me in ways i have never been inspired before, and when i go home, i will not hesitate to put what i have learned into good use. Just as he mentioned, the truth will set us free.
