You're a good man, Charlie Saylors
Father, school board member, president-elect. Charles J. "Chuck" Saylors has got quite a resume. In a historic first-time move, the National PTA installed a father as its president-elect. Since 1897, the PTA, which was once known as the National Congress of Mothers, has seen a long line of women serve as national presidents. Chuck, a father of four and a longtime PTA member, began his journey at the PTA's convention last week.
Saylors remarked, "This event should prove to men across the country that their participation in PTA is valued, welcomed, and needed. Times are different from 30 years ago. Today both parents work, and participation of all adults is needed now more than ever. I want to share my positive experiences with men in hopes of encouraging them to join PTA and get involved in their child's education."
Saylors has been a PTA member for more than 15 years. He is actively involved in his school community as a trustee for the Greenville (South Carolina) School District. BoardBuzz tips its hat to the PTA and our man of the hour.
