A piece of the pi

Sure, St. Patrick's Day is probably the most commonly recognized March holiday, but today is the day that math geeks over the world have been waiting for all year--Pi Day. Today was chosen because the date, 3/14, resembles the digits commonly recognized as pi, 3.14. Interestingly, the holiday also falls on Albert Einstein's birthday, and according to Wikipedia's entry on Pi Day, it's "common" to sing "Happy Birthday, dear Albert." BoardBuzz just isn't sure for whom it's "common."

You can check out the Pi Day Web site, and look at more than a million digits of pi, send an e-card or even enter to win a t-shirt to wear to next year's Pi Day celebrations (wherever those may be). This site lets you see if your phone number (or any other sequence of numbers) falls within the digits of pi (but it only goes up to 200 million, so if it's not in that part of the infinite number, you're out of luck. Tip: Try searching without the area code.)

And, a word of advice, please don't celebrate too hard as tomorrow is a work day.
