Moviefest: the greatest cinematic endeavor since Snakes on a Plane
It may not have snakes in it, but it could be this year's blockbuster—at least among T+L conference attendees. The Moviefest competition is heating up and to the victor go the spoils. NSBA, in association with Apple Computer, announces the third annual Moviefest competition, which invites students to create a "coming attraction" for the future using their imagination and creativity to express how technology may impact the future in a way that will educate, excite, inspire, or terrify (hey, something like Snakes on a Plane!).
NSBA and Apple Computer will select three films created by students, one from each grade category: K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. After the winning films are identified, NSBA will extend an invitation and complimentary registration to the Arts Spotlight at the 2006 T+L Conference in Dallas, November 8-10, 2006, to each winner and their teacher. As part of their invitation, students will be asked to participate in the T+L general sessions, which consists of an on-stage introduction and chat about the project, followed by a screening of the winning projects.
The contest is open to all students in grades K-12. The 90-second spots must be submitted by uploading to NSBA between August 10 and September 29, 2006. Winning entries will be selected and announced by or on October 10, 2006. To learn more about the competition, visit the contest Web site.
And as far as BoardBuzz knows, nobody's signed on to direct the Snakes sequel yet, so Hollywood just might come calling.
