Post-conference reflections

As BoardBuzz returns to home base this week, we reflect that in a world filled with ways to connect through technology, there's sometimes nothing better than a handshake and face-to-face conversation. School board members at NSBA's annual conference learned that connecting with each other—as well as with so many ways to learn and grow—has real value. Read the sentiments of these board members in Rogers, Ark.:

"[School board president Joye] Kelly said the conference reminded her that Rogers is not the only district dealing with a large free- and reduced-price lunch population, a large population of English-language learners and stricter mandates through the No Child Left Behind Act," the Morning News reports.

"It reassured us in some areas--like we are on the cutting edge--and in other areas we have a long way to go," Kelley said.
