Tough call for Miami board
The issue before the Miami school board: Fire teachers now and accept resignations from others involved in phonying-up continuing education requirements, or wait until the end of the school year. The board chose now, by a 5-4 vote.
Classes offered by a former teacher "barely existed," the Miami Herald reports. The board also approved a resolution that points to the "potential harmful effects to children of playing interactive video games containing violence." More on that story here.
Also in Florida: A legislative panel moves to re-institute private school vouchers, two months after that state's Supreme Court called the current plan unconstitutional. St. Petersburg Times has the details.
