More schools trying podcasting

School districts and invidual schools across the country are beginning to investigate podcasting, or creating audio files that can be listened to on the web, then easily downloaded to portable digital audio players such as iPods. Virginia's Goochland County Public School district is doing it, with details here. Here is an article with more info in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. This school district seems to have its stuff together regarding use of the Internet.

Podcasts are often radio show-like interviews/discussions, on anything and everything. Schools using this technology are finding how easy and useful it is. How about this: podcasts of school board meetings. Thrilling! Better yet: issue-related podcasts that include interviews with individual school board members. This is a great way for communities to hear more from their boards, away from formal meetings.

Check out a podcast Florida's Broward County school district did discussing issues related to Hurricane Katrina here.
