Texas school boards-superintendents convention in limbo

Hurricane Katrina's impact is clearly being felt far and wide. A decision regarding the joint annual convention of the Texas Association of School Boards and the Texas Association of School Administrators is scheduled to be announced later today. A statement on the meeting's status follows:

We have been advised by officials at the George R. Brown Convention Center that the Center is being opened to refugees from Hurricane Katrina and will not be available to our associations for the 2005 TASB/TASA Convention, which was scheduled to begin on September 23. Our staffs are currently evaluating all available options, including the possible relocation of the convention to another city, a change in the convention dates, or cancellation of the convention. We will provide additional information on Tuesday, September 6.

BoardBuzz will have the latest when it becomes available.
