It's impossible to overstate the significance of the unanimous May 17, 1954 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court striking down segregation in public schools. NSBA has been commemorating the 50th anniversary of the historic ruling for the past several months. Today, we encourage you to take a look at the many resources and reflections NSBA offers and to share with us your thoughts on the decision and what it meant then, and what it means today.

It's a must read. A special edition of the award-winning American School Board Journal that you'll want to keep, "Brown v. Board of Education: The Ruling That Changed America." Included are reflections from Juan Williams, Walter Cronkite, Ted Shaw and others. Check out also NSBA's online collection of Brown resources, including a speech by NSBA Executive Director Anne L. Bryant, a personal story from NSBA President George H. McShan, and the text of the landmark decision.
