NSBA news: CUBE conference will focus on urban challenges

Henry Cisneros, the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and current chairman of American CityVista, a project that builds reasonably priced communities in metropolitan areas, will provide the Saturday morning keynote address at the 36th annual conference of NSBA's Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) beginning Sept. 30 in San Antonio. Also: Boston, Chula Vista, and Norfolk win CUBE's annual Urban School Board Excellence Award. Read more about Norfolk here. Norfolk was also a 2003 winner of a Magna Award, given by American School Board Journal. Deadline for the 2005 Magna Awards is Oct. 15. Find nominating info here.
