Capitol Hill speculation game afoot

When the new Congress convenes in 2005, there may be some changes in leadership posts that impact public schools. One notable change, and this remains pure speculation at this point, is that Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH), who currently chairs the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, may become chair of the Budget Committee. If that happens, Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY) is in line to chair the HELP Committee, reports the Billings Gazette. Enzi would bring a rural perspective to the committee, as he joined two Democrats and a Republican colleague in forming the Senate Rural Education Caucus. Read more here.
