CUBE to recognize excellence in urban ed

Know of a terrific urban school district? The deadline for the Council of Urban Boards of Education's Annual Award for Urban School Excellence is May 27. The award, sponsored by McGraw-Hill Education, is presented to the school district that best demonstrates excellence in four areas: board governance, closing the achievement gap, academic achievement, and community engagement. The first award was presented last year to the Boston Public Schools. The 2005 award will be presented at the CUBE Annual Conference, September 29-October 2 in Las Vegas.
